Executive Mentor/Organization

Are you or your organization willing to be a Mentor and/or Sponsor a student through the “Pay it Forward” Coaching and Mentor program? You, your organization or perhaps another organization of your choice can sponsor coaching, mentoring and job shadowing for a specific number of hours each week during a semester of school.  Students can observe and learn from you and your colleagues, gain perspectives, leadership skills, grasp performance expectations and criteria for specific positions they may want to apply for in the future, and much more. You and your organization will be providing a much needed and vastly under represented pre-requisite of MENTOR to future business and civic leaders in your community.  This is also a wonderful way to educate potential future employees.

We ask for a minimum of 30 hours over the 15-week semester of school. This could be in any fashion in which the college student and organization is comfortable. As an example this could be: 2 hours a week for 15 weeks, one 8 hour day per month for 4 months, or 30 hours in one week.  In addition, to the mentoring the college student will also receive 5 coaching sessions with a professional coach along with 2 diagnostic intervention assessments. Further, each student has the opportunity to apply for scholarships.  Each College student will provide a HS student with a minimum 10 hours of mentoring during the school semester. This maybe assisting the High School student with: homework, filling out scholarship forms and/or college applications. In addition, this may also include a visit/meeting with, the college student’s executive mentor and/or mentor organization.                                                                                                            Each Executive and/or Mentor Organization Receives

Students today are entering the same world I did in 1991. I graduated with a BS in 1991and a Master in Public Administration in 1993.  Due to the economy students will be graduating and find it difficult to gain entrance into a career/position. In the early 90's we had stagflation and many cities, states and businesses had Riffs, layoffs and hiring freezes.  Applicants with many more years of experience will be applying for the same open positions as the graduates simply because there are fewer open positions available. I did not have career mentors, did not know the importance of building a network and graduated into an economy with few employment openings. I am the second born in the United States and the first in my family to graduate from college. As a college professor, coach and leader I do not want to see other students and families go through a similar situation. This program will allow students the opportunity to start networking and building skills immediately. My goal: to make a difference in enabling our community and future leaders.
